Chances are you listen to music, radio shows or podcasts while working; especially if you don’t have to be on the phone a lot. As a content marketing guy, most of my time is dedicated to creating and curating content to share with our customer base. Basically, what I’m saying is that I live on a computer all day.
Without much interaction with people during the day, it’s easier for me to stream various audio content throughout the day. Not only does this help me stay sane, I’ve found that it makes me more productive while making work more enjoyable. Here are 5 of my favorite things to listen to while working.
98.5 The Sports Hub
If you’re from the greater Boston area you are part of the largest sports market in the United States. We have an enormous, loyal fan base, and we are passionate about talking and debating sports. From the lighthearted morning show Toucher & Rich, to the cynical, contrarian takes of Felger & Mazz in the afternoon, The Sports Hub covers all the bases for New Englanders. Listen here.
Pardon My Take
Staying with the sports theme, Pardon My Take is a satirical comedy podcast that riffs on current happenings in sports nationwide. They host high-profile “recurring” guests from athletes to actors, comedians and social media celebrities, and unleash the sense of humor of each person that they interview. If you’re a sports fan or just need to lighten the mood of your work day, give Pardon My Take a listen. PMT episodes.
If I’m in a blander mood or trying to keep up with current events, I like to stream National Public Radio; more specifically, WBUR, which is the largest Boston syndicate. NPR delivers insights on politics, culture and current affairs. Listen here.
Zero Blog Thirty
From bombs, bullets, and bad guys to politics, pop culture and all things problematic: Zero Blog Thirty is the stories you might know told from a slightly different perspective that was forged through war, wit, and wounds. Hosted by two veterans, Uncle Chaps and Captain Cons, Zero Blog Thirty provides an honest look at the situations of war as it relates to politics, American culture and mental health. They tell stories of their experiences as well as hosting fellow veterans with epic stories to tell. As a non-military guy myself, this podcast is very much a learning experience and never disappoints. Check it out.
Ah, old reliable. Nothing like some solid jams to get you going during the work day! Spotify is great for a number of reasons, but my favorite feature is the ability to create playlists of your favorite tunes. My taste in music is extremely eclectic, so these playlists help me plug and play while cranking out work. Download Spotify here.
